Obamas new welfare plan is to send out welfare checks.

A $500 welfare check ($1,000 a couple) to “make work pay” that phases out at income of $75,000 for individuals and $150,000 per couple.

- A $4,000 welfare check for college tuition.

- A 10% mortgage interest welfare check (on top of the existing mortgage interest deduction and other housing subsidies).

- A “savings” welfare check of 50% up to $1,000.

- An expansion of the earned-income tax credit that would allow single workers to receive as much as $555 a year welfare check, up from $175 now, and give these workers up to $1,110 welfare check if they are paying child support.

- A child care welfare check of 50% up to $6,000 of expenses a year.

The Tax Foundation estimates that under the Obama plan 63 million Americans, or 44% of all tax filers, would have no income tax liability and most of those would get a check from the IRS each year. The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis estimates that by 2011, under the Obama plan, an additional 10 million filers would pay zero taxes while cashing checks from the IRS.

The total annual expenditures on refundable “tax credits” would rise over the next 10 years by $647 billion to $1.054 trillion, according to the Tax Policy Center. This means that the tax-credit welfare state would soon cost four times actual cash welfare. By redefining such income payments as “tax credits,” the Obama campaign also redefines them away as a tax share of GDP. Presto, the federal tax burden looks much smaller than it really is.

Back before NO had a hurricane the police dept had about 300 or so police on duty. Now with everyone gone they have about 200 on duty but still can not control the crime in the city.

The state has to send in the State Police and Guard to control it.

2)Home owners and Land Lords should prove damage with photos and estimates. Work should actualy have to be done.

3)Tempory housing needs to be managed, Money should not be wasted on motel rooms and people should not be allowed to live in the housing or rooms till cut off dates with no atempt even made to even try and find a place to live. If they can not find a place to live FEMA needs to find rental property for them to live in.

FEMA paid California hotels $8,000 to house one individual – the same person who received three rental assistance payments for both disasters.

In another instance, FEMA paid an individual $2,358 in rental assistance, while at the same time paying about $8,000 for the same person to stay 70 nights at more than $100 per night in a Hawaii hotel.

FEMA also could not establish that 750 debit cards worth $1.5 million even went to Katrina victims, the auditors said.

I have been reporting this all along that some stores were refusing the debit cards because they did not like to see tax dollars being spent on Plasma Tvs, Gold chains, Rolex’s & other items that people with no home should be buying.

One report from Best Western about a victum in a FEMA hotel room tells about the guy calling in to the office and asking them to pick up the TV. They said ok if its bad we will replace it. He said NO I want it out I just spent my FEMA money on a BIG SCREEN PLASMA TV and this room is not big enough to hold both.

The people who spent this money found nothing wrong with spending it that way because thats what they normaly spend government checks on. If the alll AFDC and other parments were switched to the debit card system everyone would be shocked what the money was really being spent on. AFDC & SSI money is not really being spent on children it goes to crap like this.

are buying video games beer and other expensive items that people who donated the money and paid taxes can not afford.

However this is not unusual this is how all welfare, SSI & AFDC money is spent everyday we just can not track it because the government hands out checks not debit cards.

I think that since the Food Stamp debit program is working so well that the government should convert all payments to debit cards so they can track money being paid out to take care of children to make sure it is not being spent on beer at strip joints.

I know for a fact because I have seen it that welfare money is being used to buy expensive tvs, video games, beer, tobaco, guns and other items. Very little of the AFDC money actualy gets spent on children.

FEMA is passing out $2000 debit cards not to people who need them who are living with friends and in motel rooms. But to people is Tx shelters who have a free place to live , get free food and clothing.
These people are going to waste this cash on Cocaine ICE and other drugs. And buy expensive useless items that they do not need like Rolex watches, gold teeth and designer clothing. That’s why they lived in government housing because they do not know how to take care of money.
FEMA should not be allowed to hand out cash but only coupons good for set items after they are released from the shelters.
This is a wild waste of funds in 3 days the $2000 will be gone and they will be broke again.
