Wal-Mart removes guns from stores

Filed under: Gun Control — tmaster @ 10:57 am

Many of you will remember what we did to K-Mart when they removed guns. The resulting boycott caused them to go into bankrupty and the media to wonder what was going on.

Now Wal-Mart will be removing guns from the larger stores where the anti gun liberals live in an atempt to bring in ‘More business”
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which is also the country’s largest seller of rifles and shotguns, said Friday it will eliminate firearms from about one-third of its 3,200 stores across the country. The retail space freed by eliminating gun sales will be devoted to other goods and services more desired by the public.

Meanwhile, advocates on both sides of the gun debate staked out territory. Gun control advocates appeared pleased by the decision, while the National Rifle Association raised concerns that some rural residents may have trouble finding somewhere else to buy guns.

“We’ve been told by Wal-Mart that the decision would be made on a store-by-store basis based on demand,” NRA chief lobbyist Chris Cox told the Associated Press. “The NRA and our members will be watching closely to make sure they stay true to their word.”

In 2004 Wal-Mart told Sens. Charles Schumer and Dianne Feinstein that the company would not sell assault weapons.

DO Not shop in Wal-Mart stores that do not carry guns and tell them why you are walking out.

This is crazy! I just recently moved to Illinois and already having trouble to find a place to buy guns. Wal-Mart Is the only place in town that sells cheap guns. What is going to happen if they pull there guns? I’m more then likely going to have to travel a few hours just to find a store thet sells them. When it comes to running a business you want to please as many people as possible. With Wal-Mart making this move, they are pretty much punching all hunters, trap shooters, or any gun owner in the face. This makes me despise Wal-Mart even more.

i have to say automatic weapons is silly just silly to own sporting guns only i know a criminal dont need an automatic weapon to kill sombody but would u go into a bank or a store armed with a hunting rifle… most criminals are idiots most idiots shop at wallmart so if wall mart stops selling guns then most at least some criminals will stop buying so u have to drive a few hours boohoo is all i can say

  5. 2nd amendment Says:

hey libral, criminals don’t buy guns at Walmart.
reason, cause they have to fill out paperwork like evry other gun shop has you do.
Criminals buy their guns off the street, from other criminals, and those guns are stolen.

liberals are stupid, and a reason why the 2nd amendment will always be in force.

You guys and Rosie the old hag ain’t takin our guns, and that’s a guarantee

You American’s are funny people. Does Walmart sell cars? It doesn’t, right? So is that an attack by the Liberals? WHERE ARE AMERICANS GOING TO BUY CARS!? OH NO! IT’S A TRAGEDY! God forbid you go to a car yard. How many guns are you buying in a year anyway? Is a “few hours trip” once in what, a blue moon?, really such a bad thing in order to buy a weapon?

And hey, maybe some enterprising young American will fill demand for guns by opening up his own gun store in places where guns are rare and supply True American Patriots with the weaponry they need to defend their homes from crazed Liberals and psychotic criminals (both of which their seem to be an awful lot of in the states).

Sorry that you do not understand. The fees to run a small gun store were raised under Clinton in an atempt to shut down small stores. We need as many large chain stores selling guns and shells as we can get.

Who cares if Wal-Mart carries guns? Who actually buys guns from Wal-Mart? I’ve never seen one person in the store buying a gun. Why not support a local gun store? This has nothing to do with gun control. It’s about a private company not stocking a product because it isn’t in demand.

A boycott from gun owners has nothing to do with K-Mart’s problems.

Hey lib, Guns are not “weapons” they are firearms. Some people choose to use them as “weapons”. The moment my mossberg 500 12ga becomes a weapon is when some jerkoff decides they want to threaten me or a loved one or breaks in my house. I dont think theres anyway of walmart removing their guns here in az and if they do i have a sportsmans warehouse down the street, a big 5, a sports authority and a brand new cabelas that just opened.

  15. Reason, the voice of....... Says:

I see so much confusion, misinfomation and politics being spewed here that it makes me ill. We have a “foreigner”……….yeah right, we have people cussing Clinton and people cussing Feinstein and Schumer, and we have people bitchin that without Walmart they won’t be able to get their “guns”. We also have a few people with the wisdome to say” what did you expect from Walmart? It isn’ the democrats or the republicans that gave the bill of rights. By the way, liberal means a perons who thinks that the way things are needs some help as opposed to conservative which means that the way things are is just fine ( A severe consolidation but accurate). So if everything is going just fine for you with $3 dollar gas, and billion dollar deficits then I can see why walmart not selling guns is pissing you off, you might have to go somewhere else. I for one do not like Walmart in any capacity but I can drive 20 miles to another store and buy my guns……….why can’t you?

Your missing the point big time. It doesn’t matter if you want to shop at Walmart or not. That has nothing to do with it.

I have read the comments, and I see that every one
has their own opinion of Wal-Mart and what thay have
done in the way of firearm sales. I called Wal-Mart
and asked them adout this thay told me that it was
a corp decision to pull the firearms. It was
decided becouse of several issues that had come up,
    1. Had to have some one in sporting goods all the time.
    2. The sales of guns were costing more then thay were
    makeing.
If you call them thay can get you the corp memo.
I realize that it dose not sound fair to us but
some times companys have to do things to better
them selves. I being a hunter my self do not like
this becouse, yes it is true Wal-Mart guns are cheep
“thay can by in bulk” and I my self have bought several of my guns from Wal-Mart. But times have
changed not to say any one group or person is correct
but to say we have to change with the times.
I too was tinking where was I going to by my next
gun, pawnshop, barbershop, “Yep here where I live you
can get a hair cut and by a gun at the same time”,
or local hardware store??? It turns out that I can
now becouse of Wal-Mart not saleing firearms by them
from my local hardware store for adout the same price
    or lower.

Hay Guys, calm down. I just did a 400 mile round trip to buy a shotgun for twice what it would have cost you,and with gas at only about $8.00 a gallon this could only be England.

  23. Cheyenne Says:

I think that this is the best thing to do. Now we won’t have to worry about our children getting shot at school. I am a 17-year-old teenager myself and i’m scared to go to school. I am scared that I am going to get shot. just knowing that Wal-Mart is pullingtheir guns off the shelves makes me fell a little bit better!!!

  25. dj Says:

cheyenne if someone was going to shoot you thay would have done it already and dont blame guns.Guns dont kill people people kill people a gun is just a tool so when you blame guns blam the people around you.As for wal-mart when you sold guns/bb guns you made more money do you want to end up like k mart is it worth people losing thear jobs because you dont feel safe if you wanted to go to school then you would go regardless.I think that wal-mart shoud sell bb guns and hunting items because hunting is a sport and bb gun are for game playing how do you think other people feel about it how do you think kids get guns thay find them on the street you have to be 18 in order for you to get a gun wal-mart dose not sell guns to kids under 18 years of age.

Plus we have other stores that we can make a once or twice a year trip to go purchase a new gun …do like us buy grocery and hunting items in buck Thank You
