Gun-Control Groups Want Redskins Shooting Event Cancelled
Gun-control groups are putting pressure on the Washington Redskins to cancel an upcoming benefit event at a shooting range in Prince George’s County.
The team has been planning to put on the first Redskins Sporting Clays Challenge on Tuesday in Glenn Dale, but the sponsor of the event – NRA Sports – is part of the National Rifle Association, which wants Congress to repeal the District’s gun laws.
Redskins spokesman Karl Swanson tells The Washington Post that the team doesn’t support repealing the city’s gun laws, isn’t involved in the NRA’s political activities, and that the team plans to go on with the fund-raiser.
Swanson says the event is a simple fund-raiser and calls the event “valuable.”
Antigun groups plan to go to Redskins headquarters on Monday to protest the event and to deliver a letter to Redskins owner Dan Snyder. If that doesn’t work, they plan to protest at Tuesday’s event.

They should be defending the Redskins’ right to participate in an event like this. These libs are so filled with hatred and seething with rage. It must kill them to wake up every morning so depressed as they realize they have to live another day with these evil war-mongering, bigoted, oil-loving, law-breaking, and (God-forbid) religious people who are currently running our country. I don’t really think that, but it makes me laugh to think that other people that are out there do.

If a gay and lesbian group had a fundraiser, would I participate – NO. Would I care if you did – NO. The “radical” NRA stands up for the gun RIGHTS that other radical groups – Moveon.org, Handgun control Inc, want to get rid of. After all these gun control laws are working so well in the District.
Dan Stick to your guns – Don’t cave to these extremists.

Posted: 10/24 2:59a DC’s gun control laws are so laughably ineffective that DC often leads the list of Top Ten most dangerous cities! All the laws do is disarm the law abiding so that they are at the mercy of gun totin’ gangs and criminals. By prohibiting even possession, let alone concealed carry, DC residents are being denied their Constitutional rights. I’ve carried a concealed handgun in Michigan now for nearly a decade, and have never needed it. (And I hope it STAYS that way!) Since we reformed our carry laws, the record of legally licensed citizens is exemplary — much better than even the police! Crime is lower and all of the predictions of shoot-outs at fender-benders and “blood in the streets” have failed to materialize, just as in every other state that has reformed it’s concealed carry laws. If DC wants to lower crime and, at the same time, correct a gross injustice to it’s citizens, then it will repeal it’s anti-gun laws AND support the NRA and great organizations like the Redskins who support them.

Posted: 10/23 7:11p Amazing how liberals complain when their “constitutional rights” to gay weddings are infringed upon or when they are subjected to the “unconstituional” pledge of allegience or a prayer at a public event, but then when it comes to guns, they want to banish them in DIRECT OPPOSITION to the black and white text of the actual US Constitution. The right to bear arms in not some bizarre or perverse interpretation of the Constitution like many other “rights” liberals claim, it is right there in plain english.

Posted: 10/23 5:26p After New Orleans – how can gun control people think we will surrender our ability to defend ourselves? The Police were not there to protect people. And in fact, were part of the problem! How is New Orleans different from D.C., or Detroit, or Philadelphia, or Toledo? When they can get the Bloods and the Cryps, and MS13 to disarm, then we can talk.
It is a constitutionaly protected civil right. I don’t see them trying to ban speech (oh wait, yes I do on college campuses), or voting (oh wait, yes I do for overseas military who vote Republican). Hmmmm, maybe their gun control moves makes sense after all. Maybe it is a part of a general move towards “we know whats right for you” “liberal” tyranny.
